Today during my field placement I noticed a lot of the students using leap frog. It is where you run a pen over the words in a book and then the words are read to the student. THE STUDENTS LOVED IT! It makes reading fun for them and they kept wanting to read!
I've always thought that leap frog could be a great tool for students. Although, I wonder how well it actually helps them learn to read. Have you by any chance come across any statistics or anything about their effectiveness at teaching reading? I'd be interested to know!
ReplyDeleteI forgot about these! My brother used to have a leap frog and he used it all the time! They are definitely fun, but I would be interested in seeing stats too...maybe I'll see if I can find something - now I want to look into this more :)
ReplyDeleteI never got to use these but I have always wanted to!!! They looked like so much fun
